Profile
Not to be confused with hip-hop/reggae artist Redman (who has become famous in the UK since Andrew picked his version of the name), Andrew's artist name stems from his ginger hair. Andrew's first track was the hardcore "Mindwarp" from March 1996. In 1997, Redmann tracks became more trance influenced and since this style change, Andrew has gone from strength to strength. His early successes include "Pikasso" from 1997 and "Neurotic" from 1998.
The Redmann sound we know today arguably started in 2000 with "Zero Gravity", in which Andrew combined his earlier trance based sound with a funky house feel and chilled guitar sounds. Spurred on by the success of this track, Andrew took the sound to another level with "So Sublime", adding an even funkier bass and a vocoder vocal. The track became the listener's favourite Toucan tune of 2001, and has been a favourite on Vitaminic ever since. In 2002 Andrew finished his first album, "Parallels"*, which featured all his tracks since "Zero Gravity" and several remixes by other Toucan artists.
After finishing "Parallels", Andrew changed his style to produce "Embrace", his first downtempo chillout track - although still with a very recognisable Redmann feel. This paved the way for his second album "Universe"*, released in 2004, which combined chillout sounds with his trademark vocoder house and trance.
Following "Universe", Andrew has continued his vocoder dance vibe with "You Make Me", and experimented with an old skool house sound for "Are You Feeling It?" and "Plastic Explosive", a throwback to his early productions such as "Scorpion". A harder, breakbeat sound features on Andrew's 2006 remix of "So Sublime" which sets the scene for his latest album "Horizons".*
Andrew lives in Pembrey in South Wales, and enjoys tinkering with his car and playing snooker in his spare time.
* All Redmann albums have now been discontinued, as the tracks are now all available online
